    • Shower Remodel Series
Soter-Martin's shower remodel journey from planning to reveal.

From Demo to Dream Shower

We represent plumbing products every day. One of our own is putting them to work at home! Follow along as we document a shower remodel from the first measurements and product selections through demo, installation and the final reveal. Along the way, we’ll share what she chose, why she chose it, and what she learned.

The Project

  • 60" x 32" alcove tub/shower
  • Replacing a builder's grade tub/shower
  • Goal: A beautiful, practical shower designed for today and the years ahead
  • Installer: MARKA, LLC

Part 1: Plan Before You Demo

Soter-Martin's shower remodel journey from planning to reveal.

STEP ONE: TALK WITH THE INSTALLER

Before the first wall comes down, there’s plenty of planning to do!

Her first step was meeting with the installer at MARKA, LLC to review the entire project, take accurate measurements, discuss the layout, and make sure the products and accessories being considered would work together.

Because the best time to discover something won’t fit is before Demo Day!

STEP TWO: CHOOSE THE PRODUCTS

Then came the fun part: choosing the shower system, finishes, fixtures and accessories.

For the walls, she selected the MAAX Utile 6032 Direct-to-Stud Shower Wall Kit in Adria Pearl.

WHY UTILE?

Utile is the right fit for this remodel because of its design flexibility. With a variety of colors, textures and tile-inspired patterns, it gives her the finished look she wants without traditional tile installation.

Its solid wall system also works well with the accessories planned for the new shower.

And we’re just getting started!

Follow along as we go From Demo to Dream Shower, sharing the products, decisions and lessons learned along the way.

Part 2: Building the Shower System

Once the plan was in place, it was time to choose the major pieces that would form the shower itself.

As she learned quickly, a shower is a system. The walls, base and door all need to work together, fit the space and coordinate with the plumbing layout.

THE WALLS

MAAX Utile 6032 - Adria Pearl

You met her wall choice in Part 1. Utile gives her the look she wants with solid direct-to-stud panels and no traditional tile and grout.

THE BASE

MAAX B3Square 6032 - White, Left-Hand Drain

The B3Square works with her Utile walls and gives her the left-hand drain configuration needed for the existing plumbing.

Even the square drain was intentional. It coordinates with the squared-off showerhead, controls, grab-bar flanges and other hardware she is using throughout the shower.

THE DOORS

MAAX Revelation Square Bypass Shower Door - Clear Glass, Chrome

The bypass design saves space because the panels slide instead of swinging into the bathroom.

Clear glass keeps the Adria Pearl walls visible, while the Chrome finish helps establish the coordinated look she is carrying through the rest of the project.

THREE PRODUCTS. ONE SYSTEM.

These choices can’t be made independently. Measurements, drain location, door opening, plumbing placement and accessory locations all need to be considered before ordering.

And that leads us to...

Part 3 - Measure Twice, Order Once

Because “close enough” is not something you want to hear during a shower installation.

Keep following along as we go From Demo to Dream Shower!
